Today kicked off our year-long STEAM project as we begin learning about where our trash goes and how we can reduce our waste at Tritt. The kids were so excited to research this project and their minds are already churning with ideas and solutions. Check out some of their research on SeeSaw today.
We have been working hard on addition and subtraction strategies this week as well. Please encourage your child to do their best and try them. I've added in the resources tab of the blog, videos for how to solve each strategy. YAY! Use this with your child to go over any questions or problems they have when solving them. CogAT Testing will take place next week. We will be testing Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and testing begins first thing in the morning. Please try and get your child to school no later than 7:30 on these days. This will give them time to get settled, participate in a little morning exercise, and get mentally ready. Testing should last until approximately 8:45 each day next week. Make sure your child get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast, and arrive on time for school. Tonight your child will be bringing home their Parent Journal for the first time. This is a journal that will come home with your child each Friday where they will write a letter to you about their week. You are encouraged to write back to them on the opposite page and then your child will bring this back on Monday. It will be a special keepsake to you by the end of this year. You'll love going back and reading their writing and seeing how they've grown. More details on this will be on the inside-front cover of your child's journal. Today,we had a Strong 4 Life Pep Rally to encourage healthy habits. These healthy habits are: drink water, fill 1/2 of your plate with fruits and veggies, limit screen time, and be active. A Moby Max will be assigned each Monday and due each Friday. Your child is welcome to complete their Moby Max math assignment on a night other than Monday. However, please note that additional math assignments will be given for the week. This is meant to be just one night of their homework. If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out. Also, you will be receiving on Monday's your child's vocabulary words for the week. We will be learning and working with these words all week and then every other Friday we will have a test over that weeks words and the week before. Finally, starting next Friday your child will be bringing home a journal every Friday. He/she will tell you about their week and ask you a question. Please respond by writing back to your child in the journal and returning it by the following Monday.
