Parents!
Since we are continuing with Invention Convention students may work on theirs at their own speed. The following are directions of what they've done so far and what they will do. For the fourth step, Mrs. Pascual will be sharing information and teaching how to do this over the next week. 1. The first one is the Problem Finding sheet where they list problems that they see in their everyday life or people around them. (already completed) 2. Next is the problem selection. We first did the back side (or 2nd page) to practice using our dictionary skills to find the definitions of the important words. We used the dictionary that is in World Book Kids in the Cobb Digital Library. When you open the Cobb Digital Library scroll to the bottom to find World Book, then click on the balloon for Kids, and at the bottom of the World Book Kids opening screen you will see A-Z Dictionary. (already completed) 3. (Here is where your kids should begin, the Problem finding sheet is at the bottom of the page in case you've misplaced yours.) Once the back side of the Problem finding sheet is complete he can do the front side, answering all the questions to help him decide if his invention idea shows promise. When he gets to the part about Original, you can help him do some research by going to websites for stores that might sell his product to see if he can find anything like it. 4. (Mrs. Pascual will lead you through this part) The Prototype Illustration page is where they will draw and label his invention. It doesn't have to look exactly like it will turn out, just how he is picturing it in his head. Make sure it is neat and fills the page because we will take a picture of it later to put into his PowerPoint.
